First Coat K Col Timber
Friday 6 December 2019
The early weather forecasts gave pessimistic outlooks for the Osterley area, but Tad thought that with wind coming from the southwest it would be OK at his mill site. As we set off on Friday the predictions were for a reasonable amount of rain and we encountered this soon after Hamilton. But much to our surprise it was not raining at the mill site.
The planks were set up within the shelter of sheds and this allowed the work to continue, even when a shower came over. We had three timber stacks and seven people working on them, although one was more in the open and work had to stop for a short period. We finished giving all planks a coat of stain, but we will have to return to do the second coat.
