Tarn Shelf (2) May 2010

Sunday 30 May 2010
The remaining two and half bags of rock were placed on the track, plus some cording set in a particularly deep mud area.  Two false pads had a X sign with closed for rehabilitation placed at the entrance.  Both were followed to check for the other end and it was found that one was probably the original track to Lake Newdegate.  Previously cut vegetation was placed over part of one to help rehabilitation.
During the walk to the work site it was noticed that a distinct pad led to an attractive tarn side view near MacKenzie Tarn.  It appeared that walkers were attracted to the spot and as a consequence the area was being degraded.  In our opinion it would be best to accept what was happening and harden the pad with rocks.  Some X signs may be needed to protect parts of the area.
